The Review Breakdown
Story/Screenplay – Set in a dated colonial 18th century in Bengal when child marriage was a common practice, having multiple wives were OK, a crime against women was not spoken in public, and Thakur of the village was the judge. The movie starts with the child marriage to one of the Thakurs’ family eldest male member. Newly married bride child becomes friend with youngest Thakur male child member.20 years after the marriage when the youngest Thakur member returns home from London after completing his law degree, he finds his eldest brother’s child bride is all grown up and abandoned, his second elder brother is killed and his village is under attack by the witch as inverted footprints are found near each dead bodies of men. As he heads the investigation of all dead men including his brother, a dark secret is revealed which includes crimes against women in the village and his own family. Very predictable right?

Music – The background music is very great and suits the frightfulness of the film. The violin tunes are easily mixed as though it feels like a blood course through veins.
Highlight – This fable- horror is fantastically presented by the makers. The best part is the cinematography, storyline, costumes, and the look of the 19th century portrayed by the makers. The storyline showing the essence of Bengali culture with the blend of social messages regarding child marriage and women violence makes it a worth watch.
Overall – The acting of every actor in the film is awesome. Cinematography, background music is superb and keeps you hooked as the movie progresses.
